Maisie's Story
Maisie's family visited the Cotswolds in May 2024.
Our daughter Maisie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in November 2022. She had been suffering with intense leg and arm pain intermittently for a couple of months and was pale and lacked energy.
After a weeks stay at our local hospital in Dartford, Maisie was transferred to the Royal Marsden in Sutton. Here she stayed for 4 weeks while undergoing intensive chemotherapy and steroid treatment. In this time she had quite a few infections and a number of blood and platelet transfusions.
The first 6 months of treatment were extremely hard on Maisie and the family. She lost her hair twice and had to have a lot of time away from school and seeing her friends. Luckily we have a lot of amazing friends and family around us who are an amazing support and are helping us all through this.
Maisie’s treatment plan spans 2 years and 3 months and she is now in the maintenance phase and is due to ring the bell in January 2025. She still has daily chemotherapy to take and monthly steroids but the dosage is much lower which is better on her overall well being.
Maisie still has a few months to go until completion but we are positive that she is going to come out of the other side of this and make a full recovery. We are so proud of how she has dealt with everything that’s been thrown at her, she really is a little warrior 💪🏼
We are so very grateful for all the care, love and support from the NHS. They really are amazing ❤️
We’d also like to thank Tom, and everyone at BSF it’s an amazing foundation you have 👌🏼
