Max's Story
Max's family visited the Lodge in May 2024.
In October 2020 Max had been back and forth to the doctors and local hospital numerous times, and every time being sent home.
He was in agony with leg, back and chest pains. The hospital put it down to a virus.
Then in November 2020 after max had a full blood count done and a mri scan, it showed up he had leukaemia (ALL). This was a total shock for all the family.
We then had to go to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford to see his consultant and begin his intense chemotherapy.
The treatment will take just over 3 years.
This all happened over Covid, which was a very hard time as only one parent was allowed to be with max in hospital.
It has been a very long journey but max has remained strong and brave throughout his treatment.
Max finished his treatment in February 2024 when he rang the bell . Max is now 17 and is enjoying his apprenticeship in car spraying. He has also passed his driving test in August 2024 which is amazing.
We are all so thankful as a family to the Ben Saunders foundation for allowing us this much needed break away. Lots of memories to be made.
