Bria's Story
Bria's family visited the Lodge in June 2024.
Here is Bria’s journey.
Bria was diagnosed with ALL on the 11th of November 2022 after visiting the doctor for having a couple of bruises on her leg and some dark nappies
Bria was sent from Gloucester hospital to Bristol intensive care the same day she was diagnosed and we stayed in intensive care for 4 days where Bria started steroids and had her first blood transfusion and platelets.
We then moved onto starlight ward in Bristol children’s hospital where Bria had numerous rounds of chemo , steroids transfusions and lumbar punctures until we were able to come home for a couple of days for Christmas!
We returned to Bristol hospital on the 28th of December where Bria started the Blinatumomab treatment for 4 weeks , we we able to go home for one week and then In Feb Bria then had a 5 week course of high intensity chemo in Bristol.
After this we were allowed home for 2 weeks and then in April we returned back to Bristol where Bria had her bone marrow transplant , we remained in Bristol until June staying in the hospital and then in a cancer charity house.
Bria unfortunately got an infection in her Hickman line in July so we spent a further 2 weeks in Bristol hospital to try and get rid of the infection until the decision was made to remove the line,
Bria was 12 weeks old when diagnosed and is now 22 months old. Thanks you to BSF for allowing us this much needed break.
