Will's Story
Will's family visited Ben's Retreat in March 2024.
Our son Will, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his left leg 3 days after his 18th birthday. He had been significantly unwell for 5 months prior to this, we took him through rheumatology, neurology had numerous X-rays, blood tests and MRIs and were told all sorts of things before finally getting his diagnosis.
Will then experienced 3 months of very intense chemotherapy at Oxford Hospitals, he also had significant knee surgery to remove the cancer and reconstruct his leg, before then undertaking a further 4 months of intense chemo.
During this period of time he was started on Mifamurtide - a kind of immunotherapy which continued until the beginning of December 23.
He has been treatment free for the last 2 months, he has also had numerous assessments.
He is fantastic and has been so brave throughout, he has also raised approx £1500 for Oxford Hospitals during this time.
A tough time for us all. My daughter, Emily also had a baby in May 23 so we are looking forward to spending some together as a family.
Thank you to Ben Saunders Foundation for making this possible.
